What's your name for the unique essence of everything that's good about you? You might call it your purpose, your destiny, God, your courage or even your drive. It's deep; it's inspiring, and it wants to have more influence in the world, especially in your job.

I  picture mine as at my deep inner core. Connecting with it really helps me as I work. And giving it a name, helps me connect with it.

"I take mental pauses at work where I really focus on my inner core," said Annie last week, "I try to connect to the deeper good in me trying to come out into the world. When I do, I get a great sense of certainty, as though I'm more complete. If I'm with my team, we function much better together."

"What do you actually do in those mental pauses?" I asked.

"I call it My Spirit. When I pause, I talk to my spirit in my mind, especially if I'm in unfamiliar circumstances - which is most of the time at my job. It really helps."

"What do you actually say to it?"

"My normal words work best. Things like: My Spirit, bring your strength here, or I know you're showing me the way forward, or thanks for helping me yesterday. Sometimes I pray. It's an easy conversation. And it works for me and my team. Oh dear, do I sound weird?"

"Not at all, Annie. You're talking to someone who writes to his inner core! Can I share your method with other people? Maybe it will help them."

"Sure. But don't use my real name."

Find the power of talking more with your inner core this week.

Why are we shy when it comes to sharing how we do it?
