You want more out of your work, to feel like you are really making a difference. You have been successful and taken time to improve, but now you, and possibly others, realize the pathway you're on will not get the best out of you.

It's your spirit calling you to move on. Even if you have already decided, it's scary. And fear wants the focus to be on you, not others.

Four things to think about from a spiritual perspective:

  • Go toward something better, not away from something bad. Get your mind really clear on this: you are going to a far better situation than the one you are leaving.
  • Whatever your reason for leaving, your message to your bosses and colleagues is always one of deep gratitude. Whatever the past battles, never leave people with a sour taste.
  • If you are leaving, make sure your job affairs are fully in order and communicate the truth of what is left undone. Even if you stop being paid, its good to do the very best to ensure success.
  • Create a strong Greater Purpose Statement--a short pithy expression of what your inner core wants from your working life. e.g., My true purpose is to help leaders from all walks of life achieve their greatest potential for growth. Let your GPS guide your choices.

In transitions, managing your spirit is more important than managing your network. This is the time to build daily prayer, reflection and meditation into you plans.
