    SureDesk™ Overview

    Desktop

The SureDesk setup is intended to provide easy shortcuts to your folders and programs. On the left side of the desktop, along with the Recycle Bin, are several shortcuts to your folders. The bottom bar, where the Start Menu is, is setup with shortcuts to Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word and Excel.

    Note
Please be aware that the SureDesk is locked from installing new software. You will not be able to install any type of program or update. The software will be updated remotely when updates are available and any new business software will need to be requested.

    Software

The software programs associated with your SureDesk™ can be found using the Start Menu at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. From there you can launch the software programs setup for your SureDesk™.

    Disconnecting/Logging Off

Shutting down completely shuts down the SureDesk™ similar to shutting down a regular computer. This will end the SureDesk™ session and end all programs that were running. If you expect to be gone for longer than two hours or are ending your work day please use this option. To ensure optimal performance servers need to be rebooted overnight. Users MUST shut down SureDesk™ when they leave for the night.

To shut down you SureDesk™ please go to Start Menu and select Log off.

    Disconnecting

Disconnecting leaves your SureDesk™ open and running so you can connect without laucnhing the SureDesk™ again. You can leave programs running on your SureDesk™ and they will still be running when you reconnect. If you so not expect to return in two hours, you should not use disconnect.

    Note
If your SureDesk™ is open on a computer and you open it on a different computer, the previous session will automatically close as a security feature.

There are several ways to disconnect:

  • You can go to the Citrix bar on top and click disconnect. This leaves your SureDesk™ open and running on our servers.
  • If your SureDesk is in windowed mode you can also disconnect by hitting the 'X' in the top right of your SureDesk™.
  • In the Citirx web panel you hover over the Log Off button in the upper right hand corner. Click disconnect.
  • After 60 minutes of inactivity your SureDesk™ will disconnect automatically, (as per above, disconnecting leaves your SureDesk™ and applications open on our servers).
